The canvas "Crown of Thorns" just back from the art show Centered on the Center, is being donated to Generations. My son-in-law is a deacon in his church The Sanctuary, where is speaks at a service called Generations. There will be a lounge for coffee this canvas will hang there.

The other 2 are small collage pieces. Alice was published in Somerset Studio Magazine along with 3 other pieces in the Alice series.

BLACK AND WHITE: Crow's Nest

This was done on canvas board, I used torn black and white scrapbook papers and Japanese newsprint, washed with acrylic. Painted the crow with black acrylic, added charcoal lines and distressed with an ink pad. Finished with a coat of poly.

For this week's challenge I've done another page in my journal. I call MALE. The male figure is done in pastel, he's taken from Raphael's "Portrait of Bindo Altoviti. To me he represents the perfect picture of male youth and beauty. The background is pen and ink, & colored pencil. I've collaged a handmade paper half-circle. Used pen & ink and some rubber stamping, silver leaf and wire to embellish. Finally, I used alphabet beads to spell male.

SUN/MOON
This is done on Linoleum in acrylics, than glued onto plywood. Then I hung iridescent ribbon. The moon is painted in fluorescent paint. It hangs in my courtyard.

POPPET: My assemblage piece for finding the beauty in everyday objects. Her head and body are a tea strainer, arms spoons handles, legs a nutcracker, hat a cake decorator tip, wings are a cookie cutter, "skirt" a ponytail clip, face is pasted on a bottlecap with yarn hair, and a tiny tin heart.

A VERNAL EQUINOX: A collage. I used pages from an old German text book, scrapbook papers, acrylic paint, gold highlights and mica. The leaves are from the beautiful Wycliff Park inVancouver, Canada. These leaves were left over, I used larger leaves from that trip on other projects.

My entry for this week's challenge are three paper pieced Girls. I used scrapbooking papers and they are mounted on 9 x 12 black paper. The only drawing was marker for eyelashes, pupil, and some detail on the ponytail.

The Senses

This is my attempt at the Senses. Her name is Fleur. A mixed medium piece. She is stamped, embossed and has flowers that I cut and stained. She has a book in her center of flowers. I scanned her so she's a little hard to see. See: I took a different way of looking at my art to try something new. Touch: The fiber the dimensional papers, beads are the tactile elements. She's also on a background that I used modeling paste through a stencil. Smell: I have used tea and coffee for stains in the past, but this time I used herbal teas (pomegranate, and Berry Zinger), and added a little pink food coloring to enhance her. While I was working I was surrounded by the sweet fruity fragrance. Taste: of course I drank a cup of tea while working! Hear: would be the sounds of my tools. The heat gun her body is stamped and embossed. The sound of the hammer attaching her arms legs and book with eyelets.
